Wilt In Hydrangeas Questionsrss

My Invincibelle Spirit hydrangeas have been in my landscape 1 year. They look hardy with numerous blooms but may have a stem that wilts completely and will not revive. The plants receive a lot of sun in clay soil. Should I remove each wilted stem. There does not appear to be any dark areas at the base like root rot. I water almost every day in extremely hot weather in Wisconsin?
